Downtown Planning & Housing Element Subcommittee Meeting

On October 18, 2021, the Downtown Planning & Housing Element Subcommittee met to discuss opportunities and ideas to meet the City’s 6th Cycle Regional Housing Needs Allocation (RHNA). The site selection process is one of the first steps in any Housing Element to determine the number and location of available housing sites. For the 6th Cycle, Orinda’s Housing Element must plan for 1,359 housing units. The Housing Element consultant, PlaceWorks, gave a presentation on the criteria and possible locations for meeting RHNA. The Subcommittee provided feedback and no decision was made. The discussion of sites inventory will continue with the full City Council at the November 16, 2021 meeting.
